Bestie Meetup

Assalamualaikum. How are you lovelies?

Last week, heard that my best friend Edzy was coming to Kuching. So we grab the chance to meet up at Viva City.

The last time we met was during Hari Raya, last year. Amani was still shy with them. But this time, they were enjoyed listening to Amani’s story. She was excited to have a collection of Hello Kitties from Aunt Edzy & Uncle Is.

And then I brought her to my favourite shop in Viva City. I knew she would love the shop too. So we went to Kaison, and she goes crazy overthere. Lol!

We both love craft. And Cactus!! As I promised to her, I gave her my little Sahara for adoption. In return, she gave me these cute felt cactuses!! There’s even a Sahara replica she made it for me. Thank you Cimeng!! 😘

Nov.2016 – Reading Wrap Up

Assalamualaikum… hello everyone.

Let’s see my reading wrap up for November 2016.

Title : Fire with Fire

Authors : Jenny Han & Siobhan Vivian

Synopsis (copied from Goodreads):

Lillia, Kat, and Mary had the perfect plan. Work together in secret to take down the people who wronged them. But things didn’t exactly go the way they’d hoped at the Homecoming Dance.

Not even close.

For now, it looks like they got away with it. All they have to do is move on and pick up the pieces, forget there ever was a pact. But it’s not easy, not when Reeve is still a total jerk and Rennie’s meaner than she ever was before.

And then there’s sweet little Mary…she knows there’s something seriously wrong with her. If she can’t control her anger, she’s sure that someone will get hurt even worse than Reeve was. Mary understands now that it’s not just that Reeve bullied her—it’s that he made her love him.

Eye for an eye, tooth for a tooth, burn for a burn. A broken heart for a broken heart. The girls are up to the task. They’ll make Reeve fall in love with Lillia and then they will crush him. It’s the only way he’ll learn.

It seems once a fire is lit, the only thing you can do is let it burn…

** Yup. This is the sequel to Burn to Burn series. This book was fast faced read. It has plot twist in the end.

Title : Ashes to Ashes

Authors : Jenny Han & Siobhan Vivian

Synopsis (Copied from Goodreads):

New Year’s Eve ended with a bang and Mary, Kat and Lillia may not be prepared for what is to come.
After Rennie’s death, Kat and Lillia try to put the pieces together of what happened to her. They both blame themselves. If Lillia hadn’t left with Reeve… If Kat had only stayed with Rennie… Things could have been different. Now they will never be the same.
Only Mary knows the truth about that night. About what she is. She also knows the truth about Lillia and Reeve falling in love, about Reeve being happy when all he deserves is misery, just like the misery he caused her. Now their childish attempts at revenge are a thing of the past and Mary is out for blood. Will she leave anything in her wake or will all that remain be ashes?

** I’m a bit frustrated with the ending of this book. I hope it never was written like that. 😕

Title : The Devotion of Suspect X

Author : Keigo Higashino

Synopsis (Copied from Goodreads):

Yasuko Hanaoka is a divorced, single mother who thought she had finally escaped her abusive ex-husband Togashi. When he shows up one day to extort money from her, threatening both her and her teenaged daughter Misato, the situation quickly escalates into violence and Togashi ends up dead on her apartment floor. Overhearing the commotion, Yasuko’s next door neighbor, middle-aged high school mathematics teacher Ishigami, offers his help, disposing not only of the body but plotting the cover-up step-by-step.

When the body turns up and is identified, Detective Kusanagi draws the case and Yasuko comes under suspicion. Kusanagi is unable to find any obvious holes in Yasuko’s manufactured alibi and yet is still sure that there’s something wrong. Kusanagi brings in Dr. Manabu Yukawa, a physicist and college friend who frequently consults with the police. Yukawa, known to the police by the nickname Professor Galileo, went to college with Ishigami. After meeting up with him again, Yukawa is convinced that Ishigami had something to do with the murder. What ensues is a high level battle of wits, as Ishigami tries to protect Yasuko by outmaneuvering and outthinking Yukawa, who faces his most clever and determined opponent yet.

** Not so thrilled but still enjoyed the plot twist. One thing I liked on Japanese book/movie, they tend to have a good plot. A plot that we never thought before, but it happened in our daily life.

Title : The Legend of Sleepy Hollow & Rip VanWinkle

Author : Washington Irving

Synopsis (Copied from Goodreads):

Headless horsemen were staples of Northern European storytelling, featuring in German, Irish (e.g. Dullahan), Scandinavian (e.g. the Wild Hunt) and English legends and were included in Robert Burns’s “Tam o’ Shanter” (1790), and Burger’s Der wilde Jager, translated as The Wild Huntsman (1796). Usually viewed as omens of ill-fortune for those who chose to disregard their apparitions, these specters found their victims in proud, scheming persons and characters with hubris and arrogance. The chief part of the stories, however, turned upon the favorite specter of Sleepy Hollow, the Headless Horseman, who had been heard several times of late, patrolling the country; and, it was said, tethered his horse nightly among the graves in the churchyard. The story was immediately matched by a thrice marvelous adventure of Brom Bones, who made light of the Galloping Hessian as an arrant jockey. He affirmed that on returning one night from the neighboring village of Sing Sing, he had been overtaken by this midnight trooper; that he had offered to race with him for a bowl of punch and should have won it too, for Daredevil beat the goblin horse all hollow, but just as they came to the church bridge, the Hessian bolted, and vanished in a flash of fire. All these tales, told in that drowsy undertone with which men talk in the dark, the countenances of the listeners only now and then receiving a casual gleam from the glare of a pipe, sank deep in the mind of Ichabod.

** This is classic. I bet you remember The legend of Sleepy Hollow, the headless horseman. Well, me and classic book. I find it hard to digest. However, it is a good tales of this version.

Go Greeny

Assalamualaikum

During weekend I love making green juice. The juice contains green apples and daun pegaga. Add some asam boi for flavour. No sugar added. It taste really good. Trust me. 😉

That day DearDear came home, he brought along this. He said his Bidayuh friend gave it to us. At first I thought it was ‘tapai’ nasi.

This is how it looked inside the leaf. It was glutinous rice, and taste like Ketupat. Actually it looked like a ‘lepat’. My Bidayuh friend told me they are using Bamboo leaves instead of Banana leaves. Anyway, thanks to DearDear friend for being so generous toward us.

I’ve tried on planting mint herbs, once. And they died immediately. Bahaha. This time I’m trying my luck again. Bought this plant at Stutong Community Market for RM8. I had transfered it into a hanging pot. Let’s see how long it bear living with me. 😆
